The New Jersey Division of Taxation began transitioning sales and use taxpayers to mandatory electronic filing and payment in January 2004. By the third quarter of 2005, all businesses will be required to file and pay electronically. Businesses were notified of this change in June of 2004. As of July 1st, businesses can file their sales and use tax returns using several options: telefiling by phone, electronically filing directly online through the Division of Taxation’s website or by using an approved vendor’s software, like Trustfile. Trustfile’s 2005 New Jersey software is currently being offered free of charge at http://newjersey.trustfile.com. This software can be used for all 2005 calendar year filings. “Trustfile eases the learning curve for those businesses that have never filed their sales and use taxes online,” said King Woolf, Trustfile’s President and Chief Operating Officer. “Our software is simple to use and offers important safeguards for confidential data that might not otherwise be protected by transmitting returns over the web. Trustfile technical support is only a phone call away for those who may need it.” The New Jersey Department Division of Taxation has approved Trustfile for sales and use tax e-filings. Trustfile currently processes approximately $8 billion in business taxes annually and is currently approved for use in ten states. Trustfile is the only solution available to e-filers in New Jersey that imports data onto tax reporting forms directly from accounting software or spreadsheets. It also lets users file one day and set the payment for a later date, and print a return for review before transmitting, making error checking easy. Whether you file one or one hundred sales tax returns, Trustfile software transmits the completed returns in one session without having to log in and out or re-enter passwords. Trustfile is compatible with most accounting and financial programs like QuickBooks or Peachtree and will import data from other software or spreadsheets. Trustfile uses existing data to complete tax forms, checks it for accuracy and then transmits it confidentially and safely to the Division of Taxation. Users receive a confirmation after they transmit, assuring them that their return has been received. The software may be used by any business - large or small – that is required to file state sales and use returns in New Jersey and offers key benefits: Ease – Helpful wizards walk users through the process, step by step. Trustfile imports the data from the user’s own systems, saving time and protecting confidentiality. In addition, preparers can print out a copy of their return for review before actually e-filing. Confidence in safe, secure e-filing - Trustfile allows businesses to prepare and retain their data securely on their own systems and transmit only their encrypted return information over the internet. That protects the privacy of the data and Trustfile archives the information within the user’s own system for easy reference, planning or audit purposes. Prompt Technical Support – Trustfile’s help desk of qualified personnel is just a phone call away, and is offered free of charge to all Trustfile users. Multiple state filings –In addition to New Jersey, Trustfile is approved for e-filings in Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Illinois, South Carolina, Tennessee, Louisiana, New Jersey, Florida and Maryland. About Trustfile Headquartered in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Trustfile processes billions of dollars in tax payments each year.
